Santana is the debut studio album by American Latin rock band Santana. It was released on August 30, 1969. Over half of the album's length is composed of instrumental music, recorded by what was originally a purely free-form jam band.
Santana is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1966 by Mexican-American guitarist and songwriter Carlos Santana. The band has undergone multiple recording and performing line-ups in its history, with Santana the only consistent member. Santana had early success with their appearance at Woodstock in 1969 and their first three albums, Santana (1969), Abraxas (1970), and Santana III (1971).
He took the name Ahenfo Band instead, eventually finding overdue success with their third album, 1983’s Moses. Its religious theme was condemned by Ghana’s Christian Council, but it nevertheless established Crentsil as a major domestic artist. 1985’s Tantie Alaba was released in Europe by UK record label Earthworks, spreading that popularity to foreign territories. His status was confirmed by the popular and critical success of Toronto By Night the following year
