Change has an interesting story in that it wasn't released at the time of recording and remained in the can until 1975, when it was issued under Sam Rivers' name as part of a Blue Note double as part of a two-LP set called Involution. The other disc was a Rivers-led date (from 1967) with a different band that hit CD shelves in 1998 under the title Dimensions and Extensions.
Andrew Hill (June 30, 1931 – April 20, 2007) was an American jazz pianist and composer. Jazz critic John Fordham described Hill as a "uniquely gifted composer, pianist and educator" although "his status remained largely inside knowledge in the jazz world for most of his career. Hill recorded for Blue Note Records for nearly a decade, producing a dozen albums.

Andrew Hill: Change by Jeff Stockton, published on October 9, 2008. In a sense, all of Andrew Hill’s Blue Notes sound alike. This is by no means criticism, considering how often he seems to have been able to go into the studio with musicians the caliber of Eric Dolphy, Joe Henderson, John Gilmore, Freddie Hubbard, Roy Haynes, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Richard Davis and Joe Farrell, among others.
