Heavy ascends to a level it would have been impossible to foresee, decimated by sheer imagination and expansive quality. kiatheking It's so incredibly soothing yet so heavy at the same time, feels like it's moving more with every track on a doomy journey with middle eastern influences.

About Advaitic Songs. Advaitic Songs is stoner/folk metal band Om’s fifth studio album, released on July 24th in 2012. Taking away a bit of the heaviness of their older efforts in exchange for a more Arabic, traditional approach provides plenty of ethereal imagery with ascension and spirituality. Advaitic Songs Q&A. Producers Jay Pellicci. Writers Al Cisneros & Emil Amos. More Om (Band) albums.

Advaitic Songs only further solidifies this band as one of my favourites. To date not one of their albums has been lacking anything, and yet every album brings something more to the table without collapsing under its own will to explore and shift the genre they are a part of. I really can’t say anything disparaging about this album.

Advaitic Songs, like 2009's God Is Good, incorporates instruments like tabla, cello, and flute (which, admittedly, is made of metal). The paradox about them is this: With two people, Om sounded expansive; with more, they sound comparatively weak. The music is unmistakably theirs, but the intensity of it feels lost in the arrangements. Listening to it, I worry that at any point I may be visited by southeast Asian violins.

Their newest album, Advaitic Songs, is a great example of Om’s strong musicianship and yet again does not fail to bring their music to a higher level than before. Again they’re trying new things via layered instruments from tempura to cello that seem like natural accelerants and important pieces to the music. Though I initially missed the 15 or 20 minute epic songs that Om are known for, they are made up for by the great material here. Unlike past Om albums which have grabbed me more instantly than "Advaitic Songs" has instead grown with each listen as extra dimensions in the already simplified production emerge to create a release greater than the sum of it's parts. Being essentially a drone, doom and world music album all in one you get a glorious wealth of styles come together in the addition of another string to Om's colourful bow.

Om - Advaitic Songs (Full Album). Can’t get enough of this album lately. I know Om started out as a stoner/doom band, but honestly I feel this category would be an insult to this album, since it features so many progressive, psychedelic and folk/world music elements!!! It’s both relaxing and exciting at the same time. The drums are absolutely exquisite and I feel that every song has a good combination of atmosphere and attention to detail. Plus, to all my fellow goths out there - some songs might remind you of earlier Sopor Aeternus, more the reason to give this album a listen! occult-pit.
