Album · 2016 · 10 Songs. Listen on Apple Music. Pop-punk inflamed with ‘90s indie’s glorious grunginess.

Cody immediately registers as Joyce Manor’s best album, and it achieves that distinction, in part, by cleaning up the band’s sound and giving it some melodic focus. You can’t really do that if Barry Johnson is the only guy on the mic the whole time. Ruess’ parts are minor, but they make a big difference, and plus it’s fun to think about him being on this album. It might be a stretch to think of Ruess taking a supporting role on the album, but it’s not that shocking to think about him being on the album. Joyce Manor are, within their own world, an important band, one with a real fanbase.

Cody finds a more grown-up Joyce Manor, but every track contains enough blunt expressions of existential despair to tie them to their angsty past. Consequence of Sound. 75. The transitional record nails the discomfort of feeling out of place or unsure of yourself.

Joyce Manor is a very straightforward band and it is very easy to understand their appeal. Their blend of emo and pop punk with relatable, down to earth lyrics contained to a short runtime have earned the band a considerable fanbase. Cody is a small step down from the excellent Never Hungover Again, but still a respectable album in it’s own right. Cody sees Joyce Manor strip away some of the raw aggression of their previous work and adopt a more streamlined pop-punk style

anyone know how many of these were made? i can't find pressing info anywhere
I was kicking myself when I woke up one morning and remembered I had drunkenly pre-ordered this album at a stupid cost to be delivered to Australia, but now it's turned out to be one of my favourite albums of the year - great sounding pressing!
