The Mind's Eye series consists of several art films rendered using computer-generated imagery of varying levels of sophistication. The series began in 1990. It was produced by Steven Churchill of Odyssey Productions and Miramar Productions. The first three products in the series were released on VHS (by BMG) and LaserDisc (by Image Entertainment) and also released on DVD (by Simitar Entertainment). The fourth program in the series was released and distributed by Sony Music on VHS and DVD.

Soundtrack work suits Thomas Dolby, who here turns in a variety of musical settings for a computer animation video that include everything from moody electronic instrumentals and dance tracks to a '30s pop pastiche complete with horn section ("Nuvague"). Five of the nine tracks have vocals, two of which are contributed by Dr. Fiorella Terenzi. Dolby himself sings, raps, and even murmurs Napoleon's words of love to Josephine. As a nonvisual listening experience, it all seems scattered, but The Gate to the Mind's Eye demonstrates Dolby's continuing inventiveness

Listen free to Thomas Dolby – The Gate To The Mind's Eye (Armageddon, Planet Of Lost Souls and more). The Gate to the Mind's Eye (Giant Records, 1994) is the soundtrack to the third of The Mind's Eye art film series. The series, produced by Steven Churchill of Odyssey Productions (originally Odyssey Visual Design) & Miramar Productions, began in 1990. The typical entry in the Mind's Eye series is a short film, usually 50 to 60 minutes long, of a series of music video-like sequences showcasing computer animation

Thomas Dolby's soundtrack is enjoyable, varied enough to be interesting but cohesive enough to give the disc a definite theme. We see here that he's definitely more diverse than just "She Blinded Me with Science. The graphics, while now a few years out of date and not necessarily cutting-edge, are well-timed with the music and beautifully rendered. I remember picking up "Gate to the Mind's Eye" years ago and marveling at the animation, so well suited to the electronic music by Dolby that I picked up the soundtrack and listened to it often in the car. That was 1995, when cell phones were finally starting to look more like phones and less like briefcases.
