Arthur Maud (born December 29, 1932) Anglo-American composer, conductor, musicologist. As Director of Concentus Musicus Minnesota he prepared and directed more than twenty years of concert seasons for its vocal and early instrumental ensembles and produced the following recordings containing major works by 15th and 16th century composers: Tomas Luis de Victoria (‘Spanish Music of the Golden Age’ CMLP 01, 1970). Jean Mouton (‘The Field of the Cloth of Gold’ CMLP 02, 1972, collaboration with William Pohl). Heinrich Finck (‘Music from the Royal Court of Cracow’ CMLP 03, 1975). Josquin Desprez ‘Missa de Beata Virgine’ (CMLP 04, 1977)

Arthur Maud (born December 29, 1932) Anglo-American composer, conductor, musicologist. Born and raised in Airedale, the West Riding of Yorkshire, England, Maud studied singing at an early age and was chorister and soloist in local churches until the family emigrated to the USA in 1948. Concentus musicus Wien made its first recordings for what was then called Telefunken in 1963. Around that same time, the ensemble made concert tours all over Western Europe, performing repertoire including . Bach's Brandenburg Concertos and music from the Austrian Baroque. Their first tour of the USA and Canada took place in 1966. In 1970 Concentus Musicus Wien began recording the complete . Bach cantatas for Teldec, an ambitious, long-term project completed in 1989 and one which to this day represents the only complete . Bach cantata recordings on period instruments.

The Field of the Cloth of Gold (French: Camp du Drap d'Or) was a site in Balinghem – equidistant between Ardres in France and Guînes in the then-English Pale of Calais – that hosted a tournament field as part of a summit from 7 to 24 June 1520, between King Henry VIII of England and King Francis I of France. The summit was arranged to increase the bond of friendship between the two kings following the Anglo-French treaty of 1514.

Austrian conductor and cellist Nikolaus Harnoncourt founded Concentus Musicus in Vienna in 1953.
