Memory 6. Lee Bannon. More from this artist.
On his third album, he stretches his style to its limits-Pattern Of Excel is undoubtedly his weirdest work yet. It's a sprawling collection of fragments united only by mood, like a bunch of half-finished ideas mashed together into an album. With its short attention span and incoherent sequencing, Pattern Of Excel isn't all that different from beat tapes by other hip-hop producers. But Bannon's weird sketches draw from his wide-ranging influences and abilities, and aren't pinned down by boom-bap drums.

Since then he's gotten weirder, and his drum and bass-inspired second album, Alternate/Endings, seems more interested in atmosphere than rhythm. Since then he's gotten weirder, and his drum and bass-inspired second album, Alternate/Endings, seems more interested in atmosphere than rhythm. Alternate/Endings is Lee Bannon's second album, but it represents something like the fifth or sixth iteration of Lee Bannon.
Lee Bannon's mixtape Reflections 2012-2016 offers just what its title promises and compiles 30 unreleased tracks including collabs with The Range and more. Listen to Reflections 2012-2016 in full below and don’t think the producer is close to done with us this year - he recently made his debut on Prurient’s Hospital Records and his debut album as Dedekind is due later this year.
Lee Bannon: Yeah, Caligula Theme Music . It's fascinating how indebted Alternate/Endings is to jungle, though. I read a quote of yours that I'd love you to develop on, if you can: "Jungle is just really fast hip-hop". What did you mean by that? Lee Bannon: I was really aware of jungle.
