HI-LO is the more ‘underground’/alternative and more bassline driven side of Oliver Heldens with which he is pushing the boundaries between different bassline driven styles like UK-, Bass- & Tech-House, Techno and Electro. As a kid being a fan of the more Harder Dance styles he fell in love with House music mostly because of the 2006-2009 Dutch ‘Sneakerz’, ‘Clubhouse’ sound and the English Fidget stuff and since then he has been exploring and producing a lot of different kinds of electronic music. While making a lot of new music since then, most of the more underground and more bassline driven stuff didn’t get to see the light; it was more appealing to release the more melodic stuff. And so the idea to create an alias separated from Oliver Heldens was a big relief for him and gave him a lot more musical freedom.
