The album version of both 'Turning', and 'Turning, Turning Back' remind me fondly of eastern Fall evenings, fire crackling, my love, and good company. None better than Alex to conjure those memories. In my 70s now, I miss those days. RoeserFan1Tahun Yang lalu. Alex is a true artist. Saw him in '89 and he was excellent. Alex De Grassi - I first heard him playing in the dorm at Stanford Universtiy in 1978. He and Will Ackerman used to put on free coffee house gigs in the dorm. It inspired me to learn fingerstyle guitar.

SOUTHERN EXPOSURE is one of solo acoustic guitarist Alex De Grassi's most emotionally rich early collections. What is most impressive is the full sound the guitarist is able to achieve on a single fingerpicked instrument. Another especially full piece is the bass-rich 'Heavy Feet,' which casts a darker hue over the proceedings. Alex de Grassi - Turning: Turning Back. Добавлено: 9 год. Lorenzo Gaborini 9 год.
De Grassi's first album, Turning: Turning Back, was released by Windham Hill Records in 1978. De Grassi also recorded under RCA/Novus, EarthBeat!, and 33rd Street recordings. In addition, de Grassi started his own label, Tropo Records, which he now records under. He performs solo concerts worldwide, holds various guitar workshops and master classes throughout the year, and performs with the de Mania Trio, alongside bassist Michael Manring and percussionist Christopher Garcia. De Grassi uses various guitars.
Turning: Turning Back is Alex De Grassi’s first album and the fourth album issued on the Windham Hill label. This is a gorgeous solo acoustic guitar recording. In many ways it sets the tone for the remainder of what I consider to be the high period of the Windham Hill label. De Grassi’s playing is technically deft, without being showy, creating a sound that flows and bubbles like water in a rocky brook, or sparkles like sunlight on aspen leaves – always engaging and thoughtful, and consistently filled with beauty and a positive energy. This is a defining Windham Hill outing, but unfortunately.
