This is an excellent collection of traditional Christmas music by John Williams and The Boston Pops. There are three extended medleys that weave together familiar melodies, while the "Twelve Days of Christmas" and "Carol of the Drum" are the only popular selections given their full treatment. The inclusion of Charles Ives ' "A Christmas Carol" offers an intelligent variety to this otherwise mainstream session. Despite the popular appeal of the selections, this is not background music
Merry Christmas is the second Christmas album by American pop singer Andy Williams that was released by Columbia Records in 1965, and his seventeenth studio album overall. This seasonal LP is focused exclusively on 20th century compositions, unlike 1963's The Andy Williams Christmas Album, which, of its 12 tracks, had six with origins predating the turn of the century.

The medley starts off inoffensive enough until it gets to "Night Bethlehem", one of the loveliest carols ever written. For some reason the arranger and chorus decided to seemingly channel the German Army singing a war anthem. Simultaneously there is very loud Tom Tom drumming that reminds me of the really bad westerns I watched as a child when the Native Americans went on the warpath. This version is possibly the least Christmasy song I've ever heard.
