Sundaram Balachander (18 January 1927 – 13 April 1990) was an Indian veena player. He was also an accomplished filmmaker. He directed and produced while also having composed music for a few of them. His ancestors were from Srivaajiyam village in Thanjavur area, which is acclaimed as the seat of culture and fine arts in South India. His grandfather is Rao Saheb Vaidyanatha Iyer. He was born to V. Sundaram Iyer and Parvathi alias Chellamma

Sundaram Balachander (January 18, 1927 – April 15, 1990), born in Madras was an Indian self-taught veena player. His ancestors were from the Tanjore area, which is acclaimed as the seat of culture and fine arts in South India. From the age of five he showed an interest in classical music and his first musical attempt was with the kanjeera, which is a small, circular percussion instrument.

Pandit Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi (pronunciation ; 4 February 1922 – 24 January 2011) was a legendary Indian vocalist from Karnataka (later settled in Maharashtra) in the Hindustani classical tradition. He is known for the khayal form of singing, as well as for his popular renditions of devotional music (bhajans and abhangs). In 1998, he was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship, the highest honour conferred by Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama.

Sri Sivaraman is a ‘A’ Top Grade artiste in All India Radio and Doordarshan Television. He has presided over the Annual Music Conference of the Indian Fine Arts Society, Madras, in 1984 and was conferred the title of Sangeetha Kala Sikhamani. Sri Sivaraman has been appointed as the Director for ‘Tanjore Vaidyanatha Iyer School for Percussion’ recently started by the Music Academy, Madras. Sri Sivaraman has completed 50 years of service to Carnatic music. His Excellency Shri K. R. Narayanan, Vice-President of India, honoured Sivaraman at a public function held at Madras on 10th March 1996. He has been working for the upkeep of the traditional way of playing without sacrificing the modern impact, greater understanding, and wide appreciation for the instrument, dedication to the art of mrudangam, its propagation, and scientific improvisations in the construction of mrudangam.
