Bodies On Everest are a trio of noisemongers who come from Liverpool and Manchester. They wield two bass guitars, drums, and assorted implements of electronic torture; their voices are also weapons. They describe their music as Dungeon Wave - a caustic mix of drone, doom, noise and cursed psyche-sludge, as their labels would say. Their new album is A National Day of Mourning, a funeral dirge for modern life

Bodies on Everest discography (main). A National Day of Mourning (2018). Bodies on Everest discography (all).
Mount Everest holds the impressive title of ‘tallest mountain in the world,’ but many people don’t know about its other, more gruesome title - the world’s largest open-air graveyard. Since 1953 when Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay scaled the summit for the first time, over 4,000 people have followed in their footsteps, braving the harsh climate and dangerous terrain for a few moments of glory. Some of them, however, never left the mountain. The top portion of the mountain, roughly everything above 26,000 feet, is known as the death zone. David Sharp was attempting to summit Everest on his own, a feat which even the most advanced climbers would warn against. He had stopped to rest in Green Boots’ cave, as so many had done before him. Over the course of several hours, he froze to death, his body stuck in a huddled position, just feet from one of the most famous Mount Everest bodies.
The National Day of Mourning was established in 1922 and was initially dedicated to the victims of World War I. The nazis made it a national holiday and redefined it as an occasion to celebrate their heros and glorify war. In an effort to symbolize a clear break with the fascist ideology and the nazis' perversion of the holiday's initial aim, the Volkstrauertag was moved to the second Sunday of the church year after World War II. Today it is an occasion not only to mourn the dead but also to illustrate the tragedy of war and speak out for peace. National Day of Mourning Observances.
