Jazz for the Open Road.

Jazz For The Open Road ‎(CD, Comp).

Jazz ~ Jazz For The Open Road. This excellent batch of midtempo "cookers" will have you reaching for that dog-eared copy of On the Road, ready for a jaunt down Route 66. The accent is on swinging, horn-led, classic-era jazz, with fine contributions by saxophonists David "Fathead" Newman, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, and Sonny Criss and several breezy organ-jazz numbers by Richard "Groove" Holmes and Big John Patton. I'd had this CD for a long time and had to replace it. Upbeat yet ambient, this album is a great backdrop-it's equally at home on the open road, when cleaning the house, or for summer evening drinks on the deck with friends " series. I enjoy a range of jazz styles, from West Coast to contemporary to big band classics, and I enjoy this one just as much for what it is. A pleasure.
