Sympathy For The Devil". Please allow me to introduce myself I'm a man of wealth and taste I've been around for a long, long year Stole many a man's soul and faith. And I was 'round when Jesus Christ Had his moment of doubt and pain Made damn sure that Pilate Washed his hands and sealed his fate. Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name But what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game. I stuck around St. Petersburg When I saw it was a time for a change Killed the Tsar and his ministers Anastasia screamed in vain

About Sympathy for the Devil. This song is sung in first person form, with Mick Jagger playing no one else but Satan himself. He documents events through history that could be seen as works of the devil. The Rolling Stones took some serious heat for singing a song from the devil’s perspective, but the point of the song is more about the flaws in mankind. It was never intended as devil worship. There was a rumor that this song was playing when a fan died at the Rolling Stones gig at the Altamont Free Concert, but it was actually Under My Thumb.
