Abzu is the sixth studio album by American black metal band Absu. It was released in 2011 on Candlelight Records. It features new members in the form of guitarist Vis Crom and bassist/vocalist Ezezu; although Ezezu did join the band after the recording of Absu, this is his first studio recording with Absu. Music by Vis Crom & Ezezu. Lyrics by Proscriptor. Earth Ripper" – 3:48. Circles of the Oath" – 5:12. Abraxas Connexus" – 3:53. Skrying in the Spirit Vision" – 3:52.
Absu means an abyss or a bottomless chasm. This American black thrash band is based in Plano,Texas(well known as the headquarters of Frito Lay snack products). Proscriptor sang the vocals and played drums for this band.
Absu's Abzu is a very good album, and I'll be excited to hear some of their earlier material. Every song is intense and relentless, maintaining the same high tempos I tend to associate with Demolition Hammer and Morbid Saint consistently throughout all six songs. My only complaint other than the guitar tone would be the runtime; even with a track, six songs here only amounts to thirty-five minutes.
Shop Vinyl and CDs and complete your Absu collection. How's the sound quality on this pressing? I'd assume that one made by a label like High Roller as opposed to Back On Black would sound much improved, but if it's crushed onto a single LP as opposed to two, I'd assume the 2LP sounds better?
Absu is an American extreme metal band from Dallas, Texas. Their demos and first album leaned towards death metal, but evolved more towards a black metal and thrash metal style which includes elements of Celtic and folk music (and later, elements of jazz fusion, progressive rock and psychedelic music) which the band calls "Mythological Occult Metal".
