Scotch whisky (Scottish Gaelic: uisge-beatha na h-Alba; often simply called Scotch) is malt whisky or grain whisky made in Scotland. Scotch whisky must be made in a manner specified by law. All Scotch whisky was originally made from malted barley. Commercial distilleries began introducing whisky made from wheat and rye in the late 18th century.

Welcome to the home of Teacher’s whisky. A richly flavoured premium blend of whisky, created by WM Teacher and enjoyed since 1830. There is a challenging and exciting taste that at the same time is round a warming. This superb flavour is full of rich malts and maturity that slowly fades to a silky rounded texture. This whisky is a delight, full of depth and substance. Well balanced with a clean busy flavoured fullness that ends with a slow fading of flavours. Created in celebration of India’s 50 years of independence, Teacher’s 50 is a premium Scotch whisky. It has 50% malt whisky, 50% grain whisky and is made from different Scotch whiskies. Teacher’s Highland Cream boasts a 45% malt content, notably high for a standard blend, and has at its heart smoky malt whisky from Ardmore distillery. In total, more than 30 different malt whiskies are combined in its recipe. In addition to the long-established Highland Cream blend, Teacher’s also offers Origin, with a malt content of 65%, and Teacher’s 50, a 12-year-old blend with a malt to grain ratio of 50:50, containing 50 different whiskies sourced from throughout Scotland. William Teacher was working in a grocer’s shop in the Glasgow district of Anderston when he married the grocer’s daughter in 1834 and began to sell whisky from the shop. In 1856 he was granted a ‘licence for consumption’ and opened his first ‘Dram Shop’

Describing Scotch whisky may not make it sound like a real man’s drink, but it’s an undeniable must for every shelf of liquor. The nose offers sherried fruits touched by a hint of smoke while the creamy smooth taste puts off a gentle sweetness. A mild malty peat lingers as the faint citrus finish rounds out each flavorful sip. Purchase. Caol Illa 12. From the Scottish region of Islay, Caol Ila distillery puts forth a Scotch whisky that’s imbued with a pleasant aroma of peppermint leaves accentuated by cigar leaves, smoked ham, and hickory. Lemon peels hit the senses the moment the oily liquid touches your lips, followed by smoke and boiled sweets.

Customers Also Bought. A great, all-round blended Scotch as far as blended Scotch goes. Not much on the nose but the taste is a classic blend – smooth finish with an explosion of subtle peat and smoke towards the end. Very impressed with this. 4 star as I prefer my single malts, but feel this could stand up to one such as Talisker Skye.

Founded by William Teacher, who under new licensing laws, began selling his own blends in 1830. In 1832, he started to sell his blended Scotch from his wife’s grocery store in Glasgow. It was in 1863 that he perfected Teacher’s Highland Cream, a blend made up of over thirty different single malts and has a very high malt content to give a fuller, richer flavour. William Teacher died in 1876 and left the brand to his two sons, Adam and William Jr, who moved operations from Glasgow to St Enoch where the business remained until 1991
