Charlie Chaplin) ALBUM: CIRCUS IN THE SKY LABEL: ILLUSIVE PRODUCED BY: BLISS, M-PHAZES. Then we were blessed with this masterpiece of an album, Circus in the Sky (2013). I remember when this album first came out and I heard those lyrics, remembering back on their journey from small time to big time. I didn't think I knew this song from Bliss n Eso, thought I knew it from some place.
Bliss n Eso’s fifth album begins with a sample of Charlie Chaplin’s final speech from the 1940 film The Great Dictator. This rousing plea for humanity is an appropriate start to Circus in the Sky, an LP on which MCs Bliss (Jonathan Notley) and Eso (Max MacKinnon) spit some of their most personal lyrics to date. Home Is Where the Heart Is recalls their formative years in school over a solid funk beat; Life’s Midnight finds Eso recounting the moment when, as a five-year-old, he met his idol, Shabba Doo from the breakdancing film Breakin’, during a family vacation in Los Angeles.

Great album, one of my favourites. Bliss and Eso put a lot of creativity and energy into this album. Circus In the Sky is a huge landmark in Australian hip-hop. Bliss n Eso do an amazing job with each well thought of and perfectly crafted verse. The producing of each track is also very notable with instruments ranging from drums to piano to flutes. Notable guest include the legendary Nas, and many other great australian artists such as Drapht, 360, and Ceekay Jones. Everything BnE expirimented with on this album works perfectly.
