The album's cover reflected the band's interest in the Hare Krishna religion which started with previous singer John Joseph and then carried on through Harley Flanagan who also became a devotee. The Krishna faith was ultimately the demise of the band, as the contradiction of a faith of pacifism against the violence of the band's music was often even too much for the band members to handle. However, before this, in 1992, their next album, Alpha Omega, saw the return of John Joseph to the Cro-Mags fold, and an even further gravitation towards a metal sound. After the short, sharp.

The title The Age of Quarrel comes from Bhagavad Gita. This age we’re living in is referred to as the iron age of quarrel and hypocrisy. It’s the final age of the four ages, before the annihilation of the universes. One day, I was going in to record the album, and I was coming from a matinee at CBs where there had been a major brawl, and my friend Bags had bitten this dude’s thumb off! He looked up at me, with blood all over his face, and screamed, Harley! Get me out of here!! I’m like, Oh great, everybody knows my name, and I’m attached to this mess. Cro-Mags play live in the 1986 film, The Beat. Malfunction I always felt was like a peek into John’s psyche. He says in the chorus, I’m tryin’ and I’m lyin’ but I just can’t get through to you.
labelCro-Mags (Musical Group) labelThe Age Of Quarrel (Musical Album) labelHardcore Punk (Musical Genre) labelFull. Machinehead's cover of Hard Times made me want to check this out about 25 years ago and I still love it. 15 hours ago. THIS IS HARD-CORE, fuck the melodic hardcore . And I love the culture, and the music. And at my age I got into hardcore in the late 90s early thousands. We didn't have one of those awesome definitive hardcore/punk scenes in my city that some did But anyway. I always have felt almost "guilty" haha that's not the right word. But, I have never been able to get into some of the forefathers of hardcore. Like I totally appreciate this album, but I wouldn't ever think to put it on even tho I know it's objectively one of the most influential. I'd much rather listen to Converge or more than life.
