The Complete Greatest Hits is the fourth principal major label greatest hits album by American folk rock duo America, released by Rhino Records in 2001. This is the first America compilation to feature all 17 of the group's Billboard Hot 100 singles. The album was intended to update and expand upon History: America's Greatest Hits, the group's all-time best-selling album. It includes two new tracks released exclusively on this collection.

History is America’s greatest hits album, in which all the tracks prior to George Martin’s involvement with the band get a remix in his style. The album title is because the band at the time always named their records starting the letter H. Fun fact: the album cover was done by a then-unknown artist named Phil Hartman, later famous as an actor and comedian, and brother of the group’s then-manager, John Hartmann. History: America’s Greatest Hits Q&A.

Mirroring the cover art depiction of America's dual life in England and the . History: Greatest Hits perfectly spotlights both the polished and layered production of British studio legend George Martin and the West Coast tones of the band's folk-pop style. Featuring the group's many chart toppers from the first half of the '70s, this definitive roundup includes Neil Young-style acoustic sides like "Lonely People," the hippie MOR of "Muskrat Love," and breezy acid rock like "Sandman.

La De Das (8). Larry Carlton (2). Led Zeppelin (2. America - Dewey, Dan, Gerry. America's status in their namesake nation quickly changed when "A Horse With No Name" reached the top of the charts. It eventually sold more than a million copies and garnered the group a Grammy for Best New Artists of 1972. Their self-titled debut album, containing both their first hit and its Top 10 follow-up, "I Need You" topped the Stateside charts for more than a month. Due to the commercial success and enduring popularity of this album, over time the remixed versions of America's hits on 'History' have become as recognizable in popular culture as the original singles themselves. This post consists of FLACs and MP3's (320kps) ripped from my CD copy (my vinyl has had one too many spins on the turntable I'm afraid) and includes artwork for both formats, along with label scans.

America displayed the band's sensitivities with "Clarice" and "I Need You," the latter charting at number nine. While the band made a name for itself on the strength of "Horse" alone, the rest of the record deserves attention, too. While "Riverside" and "Children Here" never reached the status of later hits like "Sister Goldenhair" or "Lonely People," they still command respect. My introduction to America many years ago was through the compilation album "History" which I owe a debt to as an early encouragement along with Dan Fogelberg's work into picking up the acoustic guitar with which I've had a lifelong friendship ever since and I recall learning to play by playing along with every track on that album.
